HORSE TAIL MEMORIALS
A special way to honor the memory of your late horse
A cherished tradition among horse owners is cutting off their horse's tail before saying goodbye. As a horse owner myself, I know how important it is to keep something to remember our best friends by.

While there are many ways to preserve their tail - such as turning it into jewelry or a keychain - these methods only use small portions of the hair, leaving most of it behind. I am proud to offer a way to showcase the entire tail in its full beauty, all while capturing the horse's spirit on a canvas.
Created with oil paint on wooden panel, each piece incorporates your horse’s real tail hair, securely attached with a non-permanent process to ensure it will last. The pose features your horse looking over its shoulder, showcasing the tail while emphasizing their beautiful face.

Each memorial is set to dry for 2 months and then completed with a breathable varnish to enhance the colors and protect the artwork, allowing the painting the continue curing underneath. The varnish is then left to dry for up to another month until your finished piece arrives wired and ready to hang. All portraits come with a certificate of authenticity.

Choosing a reference photo
You do not need to have a picture of your horse looking towards the camera in the same pose I paint them in! If you have one, great, but I do not expect anyone to be able to capture that perfect pose.

Simply send me multiple photos of your horse, and a photo of their hind if they have any special markings. The best references are of the horse looking slightly to the side!

Having clear, high-quality reference photos is key to capturing all the fine details of your horse, allowing me to accurately portray their unique features.

I understand not everyone will have a perfect reference photo when booking a memorial portrait, and I will do my best to work with the photos you provide. Please refer to my photo guide if you have the ability to take more photos.
Timeline
Please note horse tail memorial oil paintings require around 3-4 months once completed to varnish and fully dry before shipping.
You’ll receive a photo of the finished painting before shipping, and final payment is due upon approval, minus the deposit.

After submitting your commission request, I’ll provide an estimated timeline date based on my current waitlist. Please let me know if you have a preferred date of completion.

Getting the tail to me
It is important for me to have the tail when making the portrait so that I can ensure it fits with the painting well. Once you book your commission and prepped the tail with the link above, simply secure it in an airtight package and mail it to the address I provide when you book the commission!
